Invitation to relax

BEFORE: When we moved in, the porch was an eyesore, overgrown with evergreens and basically neglected and unused. Sellers took the old swing with them and we were NOT sad to see it go.

THE GOAL: Create an inviting living space, where we can begin our day with a cup of coffee or read a book with the kids.

AFTER: The new space with my husband's latest project completed. Future plans are to add ceiling fans, railings and furniture on the opposite end of the space so stay tuned.

Everyone needs a quiet place. An 'invitation' to slow down the pace, re-group and relax.

Unwanted Guests

Seriously!

I want to be a good hostess, but only to the two legged variety of guests.

This colorful (blecchh) creature is on the INSIDE of one of our bedroom screens. So far he's only invited a few of his friends and they all got prompt eviction notices.

Time to chant my mantra now:

What makes my feet happy?

A long supressed fetish is resurfacing...

I'm not enjoying my full(ish) figure lately so I've been trying to make my feet happy until my body catches up LOL.

Here are a few personalities my feet are enjoying...

BLACK MERRELLS

These are the most comfy brand of sandals your pinkies and their 4 companions will find. They have this great metatarsal ridge that is therapeutic to my 'issues' and go with everything.

RED DRIVING MOCS

Well, because I do practically live in my car and feet deserve to be happy there too!

BROWN PINK CROCS

Those little nubbins tickle your soles and nobody has to know why your smiling ;-)

A Healthier Me?

Okay, the weather is nice and I have a new pair of running shoes. No more excuses. Maybe my happy feet will encourage my body to walk (no running here) and become happier as well?

If we build it.........

It's April according to the calendar but we just had a blizzard the other day. We thought trying on some of our new Spring wardrobe would urge mother nature to cooperate with the date hanging on the wall.

If you look closely, you can see the remainder of the snow behind my willing model!

I've Taken the Plunge......

...and begun stripping wallpaper!

I'm hoping to finish up the Princess's room today. Then to decide how to paint her walls???

I have a long list of rooms to 'de-paper' after hers:

• My 16 year old's room (who btw loves Star Wars), which is sporting floor to ceiling stripes, space ships and glow-in-the-dark stars (way cool for 16 don't ya think?);
• My 8 and 10 year old's room which also has stripes half way up (original) and an 'oh-so-mature' border of Mickey Mouse that elicits rounds of 'Please take that baby paper off our walls' on a daily basis;
• The kids' bathroom with blue & white gingham and a lovely farm border at the top (gag);
• A simple border in our bath (water closet room only) *they must have gotten tired of papering by the time they got to the master*;
• Ribbons and Floral adorn the entry and dining room ala 1980's (which means it was already dated when it was hung in the early 90's);
• Another version of floral (floor to ceiling) in the powder room - a lovely (NOT) navy and peach;
• A simple country border in the laundry room that sports an alphabet sampler in case I lose my mind and forget how to spell while doing laundry. I keep expecting a goose dressed up in costume for Easter to show up;
